Restore configuration backup of ISE 2.3 into ISE 2.6

Hello All,

is it possible to restore configuration backup of ISE 2.3 into ISE 2.6 ?? If yes please share cisco supportive document.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Currently we are running  ISE version 2.3 on lesser hard disk space. To increase resource we have to re-image ISE along with newer version since 2.3 will get end of support soon.

We are planning to build new ISE (VM) on version 2.6. So is it possible to restore configuration backup of ISE 2.3 into ISE 2.6 ??

Your help is highly appreciated..

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can restore backups from version 2.1 and newer to ISE 2.6. This is documented on the admin guide.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/ise/2-6/admin_guide/b_ise_admin_guide_26/b_ise_admin_guide_26_chapter_01100.html
"Cisco ISE, Release 2.6 supports restore from backups obtained from Release 2.1 and later."

To avoid issues with the restore process between versions during upgrades, it's recommended to run the Cisco upgrade readiness test (URT) tool on the secondary admin node of the deployment. This will tell you if the restore process is going to fail on any major configuration or data base configuration. The URT can be found on the ISE 2.6 download page, and the instructions for running it are in the admin / upgrade guides as well.
