Upgrade ISE 1.4 to ISE 2.3 or Above

Hi Guys,

I've noticed that there is a new policy set for the ISE 2.3 and above and I would like to know will it mess up my current policies in my ISE 1.4 if I upgrade it to ISE 2.3 or later?

In my ISE 1.4, I just use the normal policy and not the policy set.

There are significant changes between the versions but in theory it should continue working as it does today. If I was you going through this process, I would take the extra time to stand up a new test ISE 2.2 VM patch it, restore the 1.4 backup, then upgrade to 2.4. There is no replacement for actually running through the upgrade process and then testing.

You won't be able to go from 1.4 to the current recommended release of 2.4. ISE v2.2 is the most current you can jump upgrade to, you would then have to either restore the 2.2 backup to a 2.4 node, or run the 2.4 upgrade bundle.

Thanks for the feedback.

I agree with you about the testing however, I do have limited resources as of the moment. In addition, my plan is to upgrade first to 2.2 then latest patch of 2.2 then goes to 2.3.
