to backup an ACS 5.3 vm running on ESXi 5.0 our backup admin requested to install vmware tools on the acs server.
How to do this - if possible?

ACS 5.4 includes this support on the ACS server
ACS 5.4 was released to CCO in late October

thanks for the answer - unfortunately the upgrade fails (opend another discussion for this...)
will report whether backup will work as soon as I'm able to do the upgrade

hi Frank,
Did vmware HA work for you with ACS5.4 ? does that mean we need to only buy one CSACS VM instance and do vmware HA in order to get redundancy ? Appreciate your inputs

Joe,
While VMware HA would add a layer of redundnacy, you would still be subject to service interruptions if there are any problems with the ACS VM, such as data corruption for example.

Hi Joe
yes the vmware HA works for us and is enough if you can live with risk of data corruption. (which we never experienced up to now...)
In our case it's good enough to recover from the backup instead of adding more complexity.

Frank
