Hi All ,

I am running windows based acs 3.3 in my lan environment going to be replaced with acs 1120 appliance running acs 4.2.1.15 , ACS 3.3 database has been built upto  4.2.0.124 ,step by step by upgrade process

1) acs 3.3.3.14---> 4.1.1.24

2) acs 4.1.1.24 ----> 4.2.0.124 .

now my database is with 4.2.0.124 dmp file , I cannot upgrade my database to 4.2.1.15 because 4.2.1.15 patch is not applicable & executable  on 90 days evalution package of 4.2.0.124 of windows platform .

can i import my windows based 4.2.0.124 datbase directly to my acs appliance running 4.2.1.15.3 ??? , else its requires any step to be done to modify the windows based databse matching to appliance windows verison once .

I could see on appliance under restore settings the following options (restore from 4.2.0 backup file to acs 4.2.1),kindly suggest on this

              .

Hello Santhosh

One thing you can try.

[1] Rollback patch-3 from acs appliance. It has to be done from CLI/console on acs se. This will bring you acs se to ver 4.2.1 build 15.

[2] Restore the database from ver 4.2.0 on ver 4.2.1 directly. You need to enable a check box for restore.[ check the attachment , restore section ]

[3] Then apply Patch 3 on acs se , after restore is successful.

Try these steps.

thanks

Hi Santosh,

I created a dummy database on 4.2.0.124 in my lab. database included 1 user and 1 client.. Took a backup, stored it in another location.

I installed a ACS 4.2.1.15. Applied patch 3. did a database restore of the backup of 4.2.0.124.

It worked fine for me.. i think you can try that option. You should be able to restore the backup of 4.2.0.124 in 4.2.1.15.3.

Hope this helps.

Anisha

Hi,

You can restore the backup present on ACS 4.2.0.124 and upgrade to ACS 4.2.1.15. But i am not quite sure if the database will be upgrade to the patch as well.

The link below gives explaination of the setting:

Hope this helps.

Hi Anisha ,

Thanx for your postings , You mean to say that i can use my windows based ACS backup database of 4.2.0.124.dmp file directly to my acs appliance  running 4.2.1.15.3 by enabling the option under system restore (restore from 4.2.0 backup file to acs 4.2.1) .

Hello Santhosh

Your acs appliance is on ACS ver 4.2.1 build 15 Patch 3. Usually, you can restore the database. But, it is not recommended. If your acs appliance was not patched, then you could have restored it easily.

Can't you upgrade acs windows database directly to ver 4.2.1 and then apply patch 3 and then restore the database on acs appliance ?

thanks

Hi Devashree ,

Thanx for your postings , I have tired to upgrade 4.2.0.124 to 4.2.1.15 on windows 90 days evaluation package of 4.2.0.124 , Acs 4.2.1.15 is not upgradable on 90 days evaulation package it looks for licence version of 4.2.0.124 .

Attached the snap shot for error code , Thank you  , Let me kow if any alternate solution is available , Thank you

Hi Anisha\Devashree ..

Awsome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanx for your great support on this , I will try to restore database directly to my appliance running 4.2.1.15.3 and let you know if i find any diffuculties ....

My databse is about 15MB, if i found any diificutlies during restoring , i will downgrade my appliance to  base version of  4.2.0.124 then i will restore my 4.2.0.124 database by enabling restore option from 4.2.0.124 to 4.2.1. And i will apply the patch , Thank you .

Devashree : There should not be any problem right ?? by enabling restoring option from 4.2.0.124 to 4.2.1 during system restore , if your appliance is running acs version 4.2.0.124 as a operating one

HTH Regards Santhosh Saravanan

Hello Santhosh

If you find any issues, then no need to downgrade your acs appliance to ver 4.2.0. The downgrade procedure on acs appliance means reimage the box.

If your acs appliance is running on ver 4.2.0, then you will see the option as " restore from 4.1.1 backup file to ver 4.2.0 ".

If acs appliance is on ver 4.2.1 , then you will see " restore from ver 4.2.0 backup file to acs ver 4.2.1 ".

If in future, you downgrade acs appliance to ver 4.2.0, then you can directly restore the database of 4.2.0 backup file. There is not need to enable any checkbox under "restore settings".

Let me know if you have any other concerns.

thanks
