Adding 3650 to PI 3.1 leads to "Partial Collection Failure"

Hi there,

i have problems adding a 3650-Switch to my PI 3.1 Inventory. It's my first 3650, i already have approx. 350 Switches (6500, 4500, 2960, 3750) added before without problems. And it's the first Switch with IOS >15, it has installed IOS 16.2.1

When i trigger a discovery or a sync, i get a "partial collection failure" for the 3650. A "Verify Credentials" on the 3650 says "succesfully verified".

I can do a snmpwalk from a linux box to the 3650 without problems, but after PI has tried syncing, i can't do the snmpwalk anymore. When i remove snmp-config on the switch and add it again, the snmpwalk works again. Until PI tries something...

I already removed and re-added the 3650 to PI, but this didn't help.

In PI 3.0 it was the same Issue, now after upgrading to 3.1 it's still there. Is there a change in snmp-behaviour since IOS 16.x?.

Has anybody an Idea what this could be?

Thanks

Patrick

Hi,

after many weeks of troubleshooting with Cisco TAC i have the answer. It's a bug and we have to wait until Prime 3.2:

CSCvc92165 - some wireless features are being polled from normal switch(Cisco 3650 with no wireless configured)

Symptom:
Wireless features such as Global Ble Child Config, ap_groups_port_config and Hyperlocation settings per AP Group are being polled from Cisco 3650 normal switch without any wireless configured irrespective of wirelessFeatureEnabled set to true are not.

Conditions:
when wirelessFeatureEnabled set to false also, wireless features are being polled.

Workaround:
As of now there is no workaround

There is no official release date for Prime 3.2 but Cisco TAC told me it should be second quarter 2017.

Kind Regards

Patrick

I'm running prime 3.1.5 with DP8 and haven't seen problems with 3650 switches at all. They add and sync without issue.  I think I was on 3.1.3 with DP4 when I added them. What version of SNMP do you use? I've increased the SNMP timeout to 30 seconds as well. We're running cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.05.E.152-2.E5.bin on the 3650 switches. Have you tried other software versions on the 3650's?

In prime 3.0 they do show as WLC's though. (We have CPI 3.0 and 3.1 running as we migrate to 3.1) I haven't seen issues with that other than it being irritating and taking a long time to complete sync to those switches.
