Hello,

hard to give a good answer. Open source is usually a good idea if you have a multivendor environment. Have a look at the article linked below:

NetBox is a well-regarded open-source Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software solution used for managing and documenting network infrastructure, including devices, racks, IP addresses, and more. Here's a breakdown of why it's considered good:

  • Source of Truth: NetBox acts as a central hub for your network data, providing an accurate and reliable single source for information on your data center assets and configurations. This helps reduce confusion and errors.

  • Focus on Automation: NetBox excels at providing data programmatically to other tools you might use for automation, monitoring, and network assurance. It integrates well with other DCIM and network management systems.

  • Open-source and Flexible: Unlike some commercial DCIM software that can be rigid and expensive, NetBox is free to use and modify. This flexibility allows you to customize it to fit your specific needs.

  • Easy to Use: NetBox has a user-friendly web interface that simplifies data entry and management. There's also extensive documentation to help you get started and troubleshoot any issues.

Here are some of the key features of NetBox that make it a good choice for data center management:

  • IP Address Management (IPAM): Track and manage IP addresses, subnets, and VLANs.

  • Rack and Device Visualization: See a visual representation of your data center, including racks, devices, and cabling.

  • Cable Management: Track and manage your data center's cabling infrastructure.

  • Device Tracking: Keep track of all your data center devices, including their properties, configurations, and warranty information.

  • API access: NetBox provides a powerful API that allows you to integrate it with other tools and automate tasks.
