Best Solution for automatic backup of network devices

Hi,

Please let me know what is the best possible way to have automation of backup.I have gone through some discussions about rancid , trying to configure the same but its not working for some reasons.If any one of u are using it please help me ..

Other suggestions are tooo welcome.

Hum , this question would be more appropriate on the RANCID website/forums

I have scripted some rancid backup solutions for tiny/small businesses.

First find out what is not working ...

is it the connection to the Cisco equipement ? (telnet/ssh)

is it the authentication to the equipement ?

Is RANCID populated ? (rancid.db)

are there errors in the logs ?

As for the BEST backup/automation solution , theres no easy answer.

Ciscoworks can work pretty well , if you need a complete management solution

Other companies do offer a good system too (solarwinds comes to mind , but there are lots)

Its also easy to script something up if you dont have financial support. google for "cisco backup script".

Thanks .. Do the Rancid Support IOS switches tooo ?

Last i tried it , as long as you can Telnet/SSH to the switch/router , it will work
