Hai,

I am using LMS 2.5 on windows 2000 adv server.with all latest service packs.

Currently i discovered

6509 switches - 2

3500 XL switches - 3

2522 routers -1

These are all shown in Layer 2 map.

But now when i added 2 4506 switch and another 1 2522 switch which is across a proxy server i am not able to see in Topology services Layer 2 map.

These are the analysis i found:

1.Even i am not getting in Unreachable devices.

2.I also checked the SNMP community strings on both device and server. It is correct.

3. All the 3 devices are CDP enabled.

4. I am getting the Inventory,Ciscoview for these devices.

5. I tried by giving teh timeout to 20 and retries 5 even it is not coming.

I am frustrated where things go wrong.

Kindly help me out. I have done a lot of R & D in LMS 2.2 but LMS 2.5 i am not familiar.

Expecting someone to help.

Regards

Now i added 2

You state that the devices are across a proxy server. You are very likely not proxying all of the ports and protocols necessary for Ciscoworks' ANI server (background service used to discover, characterize, and store Layer 2 information). At the very least, I'd suspect that cdp (a layer 2 protocol) is not transiting the proxy server. If your proxy server is that wide open, you may as well not have it there at all (IMHO).

Have you tried adding these new switches as seed devices to the ANI discovery process? If not, I suggest you try that and examine the ANI log for anomalies in the event that doesn't work.
