Can't get PoE to work on my Cisco 8856 phone. Do I need a different LA

 It supports cdp and lldp. Make sure the switch have cdp and or LLDP enable as well. If not, enable it.

My Vodafone router does not offer CDP or LLDP as I can see.

Usually devices with PoE function have some negociation protocol like CDP or LLDP. Which Vodafone  device is this? and are you trying to get power from this device? Or are you using Power Injector instead?

I thought all routers can do PoE out of the box but 8865 does not react.

Do I need a crossed cable or something like that? The Vodafone router is connected to a cable network via cable connection.

PoE is a feature, so, either your device supports or not. Which is the router model, let´s check on the vendor docs.

What is the exact model is the switch or power injector?

It is a Vodafone WiFi Certified 6 Router I'm using.

DSL router usually do not support PoE. 

To get this phone to work, a power injector or a power brick is needed.
