Hi Guys;

I am performing an upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1 but I am running into some issues, the file has copied across from the FTP server onto Prime but when I go to upgrade the system -

using the following command              (#####/admin# application upgrade PI-Upgrade-3.0.X_to_3.1.0.0.132.tar.gz defaultRepo)

I get the following error:

Stage 3 of 7: Executing pre-install ...

System will reboot a few times to complete the upgrade process.

The following is in the logs:

You cannot do the 3.0- to 3.1 upgrade from an normal ssh session.

You need to be on the physical console port (for hardware appliance) or Vsphere client console connection (virtual machine appliance).

Cisco says they require this because the OS is being upgraded; but they have other product upgrades that upgrade the OS as well and don't require it. (For example ISE which also runs on ADE-OS with Linux underneath.)

Hi,

I had exactly same issue when i tried to upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1.

so i tried to upgrade from virtual machine console but the problem is when i try to upgrade from virtual machine console it's doesn't recognize the installations files saved on /localedisk/defaulrepo

if i SSH to CPI and run the command as below then i can see all the files but if i do the same command via virtual machine console it's says  "% repository is empty".

cpi01/admin# show repository defaultRepo
DigiCertCA.crt
PI-Upgrade-3.0.0.0.78.tar.gz
PI-Upgrade-3.0.X_to_3.1.0.0.132.tar.gz
TrustedRoot.crt

When i try to upgrade even though repository is empy

application upgrade PI-Upgrade-3.0.X_to_3.1.0.0.132.tar.gz defaultRepo

it's says "%Locale file not found"

When i try to jump into box via root and check the files are on /localedisk/defaultRepo it's show nothing...

I have tried following but without success:

reboot entire Box

stop /start NCS

Any idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Best Regards,

Ranjan
