Cant connect to 1000 Full

I have a 2 Cisco Switches.  The one switch connected directly to my router allows me to connect all my devices at 1000GB.  All the ports are set to auto/auto.  However, when I connect the two switches together and connect a device to the second switch the will only connect at 100/Full even though they are set to auto/auto.  When I try and change it to a 1000/Full the connect drops and I get no link.  Please help??

Did you try different cabling to see if that was causing the issue?

Most of the time if I'm not getting gig speeds it the cabling that is to blame.

Cabling is not the issue.

Hello!

Can you provide both switches models? the speed you are trying to change is the trunk speed (the link between the switches) or the link connected to the network access devices? can you provide the "show interfaces" output from both switches?

Please do not forget to rate useful ports.

Best Regards,

Hello,

I have resolved this issue. I was connecting through a 10/100 switch which kept me from 1.0Gbps speed.
