I've stumbled upon a question regarding the functions of DHCP. And there's two choices that I'm having trouble choosing which one is better. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think both answers are correct. I just don't know which one is preferable or which one is incorrect.
1. provides local control for network segments using a client-server scheme
2. offers domain name server configuration.
Please explain in CCNA level on which one is better and why is it preferred over the other. Thank you very much.

Hello,
both answers are indeed correct, but if you have to choose one, I would choose the first one, as assigning a DNS server is optional.

That makes it clearer. Thanks Georg.

Host Names for Network Devices
Each unique IP address can have an associated host name. DNS uses a hierarchical scheme for establishing
host names for network nodes. This allows local control of the segments of the network through a client
server scheme. The DNS system can locate a network device by translating the host name of the device into
its associated IP address.
