CCTV can't see the mac address of our Cisco 9300 switch

Hi All,

I was working with our CCTV provider earlier, he tried to setup their CCTV camera and I can see the MAC of the CCTV on our access switch and I can see the IP address that I allocated for for CCTV on our Core switch. The problem is the CCTV itself cannot see the mac of our switch. When the CCTV tech showed to me the GUI of their CCTV he can't detect the MAC address of our cisco 9300 switch.

We setup last year the 10 CCTV's and we never face any issues. Only this one that we are currently trying to set up. I was able to ping his ip address that  I allocated to him on our core switch but he cannot ping it using his laptop. As per him he reset the CCTV on factory default settings 6 times. He also showed to me that the CCTV is working on their Company office remotely.

Any suggestion? Your urgent response is greatly appreciated.

It's resolved now.  There's lot of miscommunication on this issue because on the past 2 weeks we are troubleshooting it via chat only no share screen and I couldn't get hold on the CCTV guy and our local IT to setup a meeting.

Earlier I connected it on different switch CLSW2-1 and then I configure the port and the CCTV tech is there and its not working again. Thankfully, their engr joined and configured it remotely and he added the CCTV manually and it worked. Thank you as well for your support.

We have several thousands of CCTV in our network and never have I seen "CCTV cannot see MAC address of the switch" scenario before.

well its weird that we're able to install 10 last year and now only one is not working.

The thing is once the IP is configured on the CCTV and it was connected on our switch, then we should be able to ping the IP of the CCTV via laptop. The problem is we cannot ping it but I can ping it on our core switch.

Not weird at all.

I've had so many calls where the CCTV tech installs a "brand new" CCTV camera and the camera goes into a boot-crash-loop.

If this is only happening to ONE (1) unit, get it replaced.

My tip to ask the CCTV tech to bring a known, working VoIP phone.  When in doubt (and before blaming "the network"), plug the phone in place of the CCTV camera port.  Did the not only boot up but joins CUCM?  If yes, this is not a network issue.

when the CCTV tech shared his screen to me and showed to me the GUI of the CCTV, its weird that it can't detect the MAC of our cisco 9300. But our 9300 can see the mac of the CCTV lol.

I will have the tech to bring another one.

Exactly how did the tech access the camera with the laptop?  Did he enter the IP address of the camera into a "browser"?

Here it is. Tech can access it via gui via the ip address that I provided.

The problem is we cannot ping this IP on our laptops. The other CCTV's that we setup before, we can ping it on our laptop. If its not pingable then it will not work.

As far as I'm concerned, if the tech can browse the settings of the camera using the IP address, this is not a "network issue" but, rather, an issue with the CCTV product as a whole.

So I just speak to our local I.T and he said that the CCTV tech visited our sister company and test the CCTV on their switch and it worked  immediately. We do have a S2S tunnel from our sister company and our sister company is monitoring  our CCTV's remotely via the S2S tunnel that I setup.

So I'm thinking why it didn't worked. I don't see any port security and we tried multiple ports and none of it worked. This is weird. Will the switch reboot will fix it?

What is the exact model of the switch?

What firmware is the switch currently on?

What is the uptime of the switch?

our switch is 9300 48p

CAT9K_IOSXE

uptime is 6 weeks

Not sure the IOS of the switch of our parent company.

What is the exact version?

Sorry its 17.03.03

IOS-XE version 17.3.3 could be a potential suspect.

Upgrade to, say, 17.3.8a, and see if this makes any difference.

Well we got same IOS VER since last year when the 10 CCTV's are installed.
