Hi all.
Is there any possibility to change the severity level of a syslogmessage. E.g. my customer is using a configuration forwarding only severity level 2 (warnings). Now, he wants to see "Link down" of some interfaces (Serverports, Uplinks).
Is there a way to configure the IOS, to send Link-Traps with severity 2?
Thanks
Markus

Hi,
which IOS/HW are you running?
There is some possibility with Sup720 Router(config-if)# logging event link-status
(see http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/122sx/cmdref/i1.htm#wp1708103), e.g.
But generally, AFAIK, CatOS is much more flexible for this purpose.

Hi Milan.
My hardware is C3550 an C2950 with the latest IOS-Version.
AFAIK, with the config-command "logging event link-status", I'm only transmitting a logging message and/or an SNMP-Trap for the event "Link Up or Link Down".
For the Switch, the command is: snmp trap link-status. That means the same.
But the severity level of this message is "notification".
My question is: Is it possible, to change the severity level for the message "Link down" from "notification" to "warning"????
AFAIK, the answer is "no", but ... I hope, there are some peoples in the community, who has many more experiences in this technics.
Regards
Markus
