Hi everyone,
I am very confused how to integrate DHCP with DNS on 2900 so that DNS will resolve DHCP client names. I guess it should be pretty easy, but I just can't make it work. First of all, how to configure what DNS zone should be used for name resolution?

Router not a Full blown DHCP server / DNS Server, it can act as DHCP / DNS (personally i do not believe it does what you expecting).
That is the only alternative option you have to setup manually HOST to IP to resolve.

- In general it's best not to rely on switches for the topic you describe but look for external appliances , albeit dedicated or not. Here is an example link :
Keeping switching and dns-dhcp separate helps in preventing dead-locks when providing network services.

Please clarify here, yuou have DHCP on router you like to reflect that in records, i think i never got success of the some how.
But deploying both on Windows DHCP and DNS can do do the trick, this is what most organisation do, some do with Inforblox.

Yes, router is the DHCP and DNS server,
I thought that
Router(config)# ip dhcp update dns both override
Will do the trick, however I get no result.
And currently I am forced to do manually
ip host hostA 192.168.1.2

Yes, you are right. It is mission impossible.
But for my home lab it was a deal-breaker. So this Cisco is going Ebay.
