Cisco 2960X voice VLAN

Cisco 2960X I am facing problem-related to voice VLAN. It's up down frequently but data VLAN is working fine.

Kindly find attach notepad for better help.

if the switch acting as Layer 2, You have SVI for VLAN 5 located in Core Switch - so shutdown below vlan not required.

I am using Cisco IP Telephone, So I want vlan5 for same.

Right Now there is no telephone but in future, some telephone will add on the same switch.

I agree, my question is you do need SVI Layer 3 interface in the switch? or any other switch will handle that VLan5 as gateway ?

 

if no ports are connected on VLAN 5 you get those errors, once you have devices - you can configure IP address unshut ports.

 

is this make sense?

Yes Voice Router is handling that vlan5 gateway

2 Options :

 

1. If your voice VLAN not ready yet shutdown the port as suggested.

2. if Voice Router can act as Gateway for VLAN5 shutdown VLAN SVI interface as suggested. ( so this switch act as only Layer 2.)

3. if  switch required and act as VLAN 5 for Layer 3, configure IP address, and you will see that errors (that is normal since no active device in that VLAN available).
