Greetings!
My client wants to upgrade IOS.
Since I havent done any "major version upgrades", I would like to get some advice on this.
Cisco 7606-s with 2 SUP modules(RSP720-3C-GE)
Current OS Ver. is 12.2(33)SRE1
Cisco's suggested IOS version is "15.5.3S9a"
Can I jump straight to suggested version?
or
Do I have to do some steps of upgrade?
Thanks.

I believe yes you can go direct upgrade to 15.X (hope is this single Sup card ?)
here are the upgrade and release notes document ( read carefully for the requirement)

suggest the procedure should be good for your upgrade.
Backup the config out of the box. collect the information as much you can before the upgrade. - so it will be useful for compare post-upgrade,
as suggested read the caveats in the release notes and requirement.

Thank you for your advice!!
I think it all went smooth from 12.2(33)SRE1 to 15.53S10.
"show version" shows that the OS had been upgraded.
but as for the modules, I am not quite sure that I have upgraded everything fine.
because Module 1's SW showed "(sierra_main)" and I have no clue what is means.
(Due to security reasons, I couldn't copy and paste it. So I had to type it out)
7606-S# show mod

2 2.3 15.5(3)S10 15.5(3)S10 OK
5 5.2 12.2(33r)SRB 15.5(3)S1 OK
7606-S# show module version

1 48 WS-X6148A-GE-TX HW : 4.1

2 0 WS-X6582-2PA HW : 2.3

FW : 12.2()33r)SRB
SW : 15.5(3)S1
SW1 : (sierra_main_dev)1.3.28
Questions
1) Did I upgrade the OS right?
2) What does (sierra_main_dev) mean?
3) If that is a problem, What do I have to do?
Thanks,
Nell

As per my knowledge that is one of SW versions released, ( you do not need to worry as long as the device working as expected as before) - I mean before the upgrade and after the upgrade .
Do you see any issue after the upgrade?
Another note to understand myself, was before you have 2 Sup, but now I only see 1 Sup ? are you sure the upgrade has taken a good path and installed correctly on all SUP?

All the modules are working fine as they were before. I guess "Sierra_main_dev" is a dev. OS i assume.
I didn't experience any issue after the upgrade. (Actually there was one but wan't a big deal)
- IOS file from slavebootdisk was deleted some how
As for the missing modules, since I couldn't copy and paste, I omitted to type it out.
All the modules from 1 to 6 came up just fine :D
thank you for your advise! :D
