Hello!
I can't log in into the embedded AP of an C886VA-W-E-K9. I tried the passwords I remember, but maybe I forgot them.
I tried to run
router#service-module wlan-ap 0 reset default-config
and then to log in, both cisco/cisco and cisco/Cisco do not work.
I also tried
service-module wlan-ap 0 reset bootloader
, but this gets me to the same username prompt and not into rommon.
Any suggestions?
kind regards
Marco

- And what about Cisco/Cisco both with capital C ?

Does not work too, I ran service-module wlan-ap 0 reset default-config before opening the session.

- Check if this procedure can work for you : https://community.cisco.com/t5/switching/891w-router-reset-embedded-wap-password/m-p/2249089/highlight/true#M260816

I tried this, but it doesn't go into the rommon menu, it goes directly to the AP IOS login screen, Cisco/Cisco doesn't work their either. Is there a way to access the config files for the AP from the normal IOS?

- Try pressing ESC when the AP boots , I don't think the config files on the AP will be accessible from the parent (C886va)

How can I do this?
I opened 2 session to the router, in one I opened the AP session, then ran reset bootloader, it didn't change, so the same login prompt was still there. It seems the AP isn't being rebooted in this situation.
router#service-module wlan-ap 0 reset bootloader
Pause - wait for open files to finish...
router#service-module wlan-ap 0 reset def
router#service-module wlan-ap 0 reset default-config
Pause - wait for open files to finish...
router#

- @mo01 Could you also have a try with service-module wlan-ap0 reset bootloader
Note that here there is no space between ap and 0 (a subtle difference)

router#service-module wlan-ap0 reset bootloader

router#service-module wlan-ap0 session
Trying 172.16.0.1, 2002 ... Open

- For the time being I can only suggest to have a look at https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/800/880/software/configuration/guide/SCG_880_series.pdf
read for instance from Basic Wireless Device Configuration , check if that can help you.
There are other references to the access point as well in the guide.

- @mo01 It seems that another option could be to completely factory reset the C886VA; if you then
use the service-module wlan-ap0 session command you may get an ap: prompt from which
you can configure the AP (actually there is no default username and password).
You can facilitate this by exporting the running configuration of the C886VA first and importing
it again afterwards (of course all of this can not be done if the device is in production)
