i did a basic configuration of my cisco Catalyst

when i save the configuration or don't save the configuration, my enable password doesn't work.

i have not set anything but the hostname and a vlan up, i can't get passed this part?

any help why my enable password wouldn't work?

both are configured

not on a network yet

i also took a screen shot of the password's after i saved them.

You use local passowrd for telnet?

If yes change privilege level of username to level 1 and then check enable password.

Note:- be sure that you config enable password with

Enable password xxxx

Before do above step

Hi @dwtdlt3000

Share your running config and lets see if you missing something.

i can no longer get passed enable mode

Use console cable'

There is no password config I think'

If not help you then last resort is password recovery

i set a console password and a enable password, i made them both the same for now just to get use to setting up all of it.

Try console access to device and share config

@dwtdlt3000

i took a screenshot of the password after i saved it.

i can only console in for now.

i don't have no dhcp or static ip set up.

i'm still in basic configure mode.

i only set up vlan and the 2 passwords.

took a screenshot of the password after i saved it

The screenshots dont show anything' can you double check screenshots you share

the screenshot showed on my end, i'm not sure why you can't see it.

i'm just going to skip the secret cisco password and try and still figure out why it want work with the enable password.

i know how to recover or delete settings, but for some reason the Enable password never works again. even when i use the same passwords for both security features.

i'm thinking about just setting the enable password and leave the secret cisco password off.

What do you have for "aaa" config?
