Cisco PI 3.3 - Alarm Policies

Hello, we have installed Cisco PI 3.3.

I have configured Alarm Policies to suppress Alarms and Events, that show link-down on access switch ports. What confuses me is that under Monitor --> Monitoring Tools --> Alarms and Events (Events tab), I can still see the events the should have been suppressed.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you in advance,

Katerina

Hello,

I came across this guide: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/net_mgmt/prime/infrastructure/3-1/user/guide/pi_ug/alarms.html. It states that "The new alarm policies will not be applicable for the alarms already generated by Prime Infrastructure. You must delete or clear the existing alarms for the alarm policy to be effective in Prime Infrastructure." I deleted the original policy, deleted all the existing relevant alarms, and reconfigured the policy. It seems to be working.

Hope someone finds this helpful!

Hello Katerina,

you are expected to see the event even after enabling the Alarm Policies.
The suppression is only for the Alarms.
which means that if the Events were supposed to generate an Alarm , than that will not happen once you enable Alarm Policies.

Hope this helps.
