Evening all!
Something is bugging me because I cannot find a solution to my problem.
I have a switch template that I put together which includes SNMP v3 config.
The issue I've got is that I want to have in the template, the encrypted SNMP v3 credentials and not plain text.
For the life of me I cannot find a way of doing this.
I've tried using an online SHA1 and AES128 generator but the AES128 generator asks for a private key, and I have no idea what that would be from the Cisco switch perspective.
I'm hoping I'm just overlooking something here.
Does anyone have any ideas or pointers?
Thanks.
James

Hello,
just to be clear what you are asking, you want the encrypted password to be part of the template ?
--> snmp-server user SNMPUser group1 remote 192.168.1.11 v3 auth md5 password1

Hi Georg,
Correct, but for auth and priv - not just auth.

Hello,
I am running into the same issue. The online tools also apparently ask for an initialization vector (in CBC mode). I'll try and find a config example...

I've found exactly the same as you and also wanting a private key, which isn't asked for when creating the user on the switch.
I've got a feeling this one isn't possible but we shall see.
