You can plan to update LMS with Service Pack 1 (LMS 3.2.1), where this issue is fixed.

Refer Readme for CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution 3.2 Service Pack 1.

Make sure of the following :

> You have admin right on server.

> Start the command prompt with administrator priv's explicitly with a right click option of run as an administrator.

I would say try to run NMSROOT\setup\support\resetcasuser.exe and try once again to start.

-I have admin right on server

-when i run the command NMSROOT\setup\support\resetcasuser.exe   it display:

user casuser is reset successfully

plese restart the daemon manager for the changes to take effect

but the same problem

the cisco worksDaemon manager service on local computer started an then stopped.some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.

Can you try to make casuser a part of administrators group and than try.

casuser is a part of administrators group

but the same problem

What is the LMS version and windows version? Please check if you have manually assigned the SWAP space or not? There is a known defect if it is set to automatic.

you can check and change it via System properties > advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Vritual Memory.

Please share screenshot as well. If it still throws error, you should see error in NMSROOT\log\syslog.log file, share the error from there as well.

Also, please make sure you have the correct startup parameters :

CiscoWorks ANI database engine: Manual
CiscoWorks Daemon Manager: Automatic
CiscoWorks RME NG database engine: Manual
CiscoWorks Tomcat Servlet Engine: Manual
CiscoWorks Web Server: Manual
CWCS Cmf database engine: Manual
CWCS rsh/rcp service: Automatic
CWCS syslog service: Automatic
CWCS tftp service: Automatic
DFM dfmEpm database engine: Manual
DFM dfmFh database engine: Manual
DFM dfmInv database engine: Manual

If not like this, correct them and reboot server.

-I have the correct startup parameters

-error in syslog.log :

Is the server win 28k?

If you're sure that the port 42340 is not acquired by any other software/process on server, than it may be mostly # CSCtd18854 - Daemon manager expects TCP port 42340 but it is unavailable.

This needs to be patched. Patch is replacing NMSROOT\bin\dmgtd.exe with the correct one. You need to open a TAC case to get the patch.

As I said, this is a bug # CSCtd18854. For fix ether open a TAC case to get the patch or upgrade your LMS to LMS 3.2.1.

You can download LMS 3.2.1 from :
