Hello,
I am new to this site and only signed up as I need some info.
I purchased a used Cisco WS-C3850-48F-S Switch that I have been told has been factory Reset.
The switch is going to be used for POE devices and for personal Server connections.
I know the switch is EOL or unsupported as search showed me some posts.
Do I need to try to update firmware or download any software for the switch?
Or since it is only be used for basic networking with POE is any special setup needed for the switch?
I saw download page but since I am not a business I am locked out of most downloads.
I never had such a commercial switch before so I am lacking some knowledge.
Thanks in advance

1. The latest firmware version for the 3850 has the filename of cat3k_caa-universalk9.16.12.13.SPA.bin.
2. Read Cisco IOS, IOS XE, and IOS XR Software SNMP Denial of Service Vulnerabilities and scroll down to the "Customers Without Service Contracts" section:
Customers Without Service Contracts
Customers who purchase directly from Cisco but do not hold a Cisco service contract and customers who make purchases through third-party vendors but are unsuccessful in obtaining fixed software through their point of sale should obtain upgrades by calling the Cisco TAC.
Customers should have the product serial number available and be prepared to provide the URL of this advisory as evidence of entitlement to a free upgrade.
3. Call Cisco TAC.
4. Provide the filename of the firmware (step 1), the download link (step 1), serial number of the switch. Provide the Security Vulnerability (step 2).
Good luck.

BTW, I believe
". . . customers who make purchases through third-party vendors . . ."
means authorized resellers. If otherwise, you legally own the hardware, but don't have any rights to the software. So, don't be surprised, if you're denied any software and if EoL, you may find you're unable to obtain any authorized software too.
Further, if the 3850 does have installed software, legally, you're not entitled to use it without a license.

Hello,
Thanks for the added info.
I contacted them and they will help but with a twist.
They need me to confirm that my specific device has the Vulnerability and that it is effecting the devices usage.
Since Currently I have not confirmed the issue they advised me to use the hardware and confirm issue is effecting it and that it affects my usage.
At that point they said they will supply me the firmware.
Since I just received the switch yesterday I have not even connected it up yet.
Waiting for a 4u rack to arrive as my current 4u is full.
But at least they will help if and when I am affected in usage of the unit.
Thanks again for all the help Everyone.
