CiscoWorks:net start crmdmgtd-Daemon Manager not working

Hi,

When I restart the CiscoWorks services, Daemon manager do not work. So I always have to do the below procedure to restart the Daemon Manager and it always works.

net stop crmdmgtd

1. Make casuser as Adminitrator.

2. cd c:\program files\cscopx\setup\support

3. resetCasuser.exe

4. select option to reset password

5. After password reset successful, type

net start crmdmgtd

I always wait 10 min between net stop crmdmgtd & net start crmdmgtd

Daemon Manager always works after this process. Why Daemon Manager do not work strightaway. Also CiscoWorks is very slow, every 2nd day its processes stop working, so I have restart the crmdmgtd as per above procedure and then CiscoWorks start working as normal.

We have hosted the CiscoWorks on windows 2003 RAM:4GB; SWAP:8GB as recomended. LMS 3.2;RME:4.3.0.

We are managing 3500 devices on this CiscoWork.

THANKS

Putting casuser in the Administrators group should not be required.  The fact that you have to run resetCasuser.exe periodically means that someone or something is either changing casuser's password or changing the server's local security policies.  Those are the only two things resetCasuser touches.  Talk to your server or security teams to find out if any such modifications are happening and see if they can be suspended (at least for casuser).

As for the delay between stop/start, this is a known bug (CSCtg76942).  This is fixed in LMS 4.0.
