Hi
Finally got Campus Manager 3.1 (old I know) working on a box on our network, but have a few quick questions..
How long does it normally take to discover all the user machines and collect thier IP address/hostname etc?
and
Do you have to have a router on the network to enable User Tracking to be useful?
Our network has about 17 switches (4 in a cluster) and 120 users, but no routers.
Cheers.

With Campus manager the time it takes to discover all the devices depends on the number of devices that needs to be discovered. If it is a huge network then it will take a long time for the campus manager to discover all the devices. Since you just have 17 switches it should not take a long time for the devices to get discovered. Also to use the User tracking feature a router is not mandatory. Hope this clarifies.

It does, thank you. The discovery now completes in about a minute - however it has only managed to resolve the IP address (and DNS) of three host machines out of a listed 105 - and there seems no corrolation between those that have been discovered.

In order to resolve MAC's into IP's and IP's into hostnames etc, you first need to manage the router where the VLANS terminate. This router should contain the ARP cache of all MAC - IP resolutions once a ping sweep has been done on the network.
