Config Editor - Problem Deploying Job

I am using CW2000 with RME 4.0 on Win32 server. I am trying to modify a config for a Cat2924MXL switch by simply adding the "no snmp trap link-status" command to each of the 24 Fa interfaces.

After modifying the archived config as described above, and saving it to the private configs area, I then proceed to create a config editor job using this new config in overwrite mode.

In the last step of this job creation process I review the work order and notice that the only commands listed in the job are the individual interface Fa0/1, etc. commands, and the none of the snmp trap commands I enterred into the config.

When the job runs, it reports as successful, but the commands I enterred never get applied to the interfaces.

Can anyone suggest why this is happening or recommend the proper way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

have you tried the "merge method?

Thanks for you response.

Yes, I have tried the merge method too, but the job reports as a failure. All the config commands are being sent to the switch, and after each command the switch prompt is displayed, UNTIL the "banner login" is sent. After this point, the switch no longer displays the cli prompt after each command, and the job fails. Even though my interface snmp commands are being sent, the switch seems to be ignoring them.

Once the job completes, when I telnet into the switch I notice that there now is no banner login message greeting me. I have tried changing the delimiting character (a few times) in the archived config and then resending the job (merge) and each time yields the same result. Very bizarre!!

Very bizarre indeed. Is this RME 3.x or 4.0 ?

It is RME 4.0. Now I noticed from another post in this forum that there is an update which I downloaded on Friday, but haven't yet had a chance to install. I know it fixes a bunch of other problems, but not sure if it will fix this one. I will try the upgrade this week sometime and see what happens. If it does not cure my problem, I will open a TAC case to resolve it.

Thanks for your input.

In RME 4.0 you can use tftp or telnet to download Config Editor jobs

You might want to go to RME -> Admin -> Config Mmgt

Select Config Editor and change the config deploy order
