CW2000 and Catalyst 6500 : RME telnet access problem

Hi,

We use CW2000 LMS 2.2 with last IDU (8.0) installed.

When checking devices attributes for Catalyst 6500 (Sup1 with CatOS 7.6(5)), it is impossible to have a correct telnet access.

We want to use network show command but it is impossible for Catalyst 6500 devices

Is it a bug or is it a solution to solve the problem?

Best regards

Gaëtan

This used to be a problem - not sure if its resolved, but check if the switch has a prompt after the system name - like this: Cat6500> instead of Cat6500. Ciscoworks is expecting that ">" sign.

If that isn't it , make sure you have all the other possible password attributes "deleted" such as tacacs+ , becuase they take preference to normal telnet.

Let us know....

hi,

I have the same problem.

and if you try to telnet from windows to 6500, you should use 2 enter for "username:" prompt.

it is a big problem...

You can add the exact prompt you get from the device to the file:

"\objects\cmf\data\TacacsPrompts.ini"

if not present in this file.

See also:\htdocs\help\config\tacacs_prompts.html

Or modify the prompt you get on the device when logging in, to something listed in this file:

aaa authentication username-prompt a$ (also: password-prompt b$)

(i.e. you get the prompt "@'s password:")

We just deployed our Integration-Machine of LMS 2.5/RME4.0. We now can't access our 3500xl-switches running on 12.0(5)WC3b anymore, as they prompt with username : and password :, and default LMS-Login-Prompts don't have blanks beetwen keyword and doublepoint....

But int LMS 2.5 you can't hack "\objects\cmf\data\TacacsPrompts.ini" anymore, as this file doesn't exist. I guess I searched the whole machine for a config-file and the whole internet for a solution, but I couldn't find anything working for LMS 2.5 - has anyone any idea where I could tweak the Loginprompts?

(with 12.0(5)wc11 i don't have the problem anymore, as the loginprompt now ist username: - but hey, we pay a lot to cisco.com for LMS, IMHO it shouldn't be necessary that we update all our switches...)

Telneting to CAT OS switches from RME should be configured for Telnet password and enable password.

Cat OS doesn't use enable secret.
