Does anyone happen to have any experience with disabling the Local Status Page on their Meraki setup? I noticed that their article (link and snippet below) states that disabling the status page may require a hard factory reset of the devices should it no longer be able to connect to the cloud controller.
I was just curious as to who has actually had to factory reset their meraki devices as I'm not entirely sure this is a real "problem" or just a disclaimer.
sorry, new to Meraki here
Note: The local status page allows administrators to change the IP configuration of their Meraki devices. If the local status page is disabled and a device's current IP configuration does not allow it to contact the cloud controller, the only option will be to perform a factory reset and clear the local configuration (Resetting Cisco Meraki Devices to Factory Defaults article).

no actual experience here
but it is a disclaimer, a Meraki device should be able to reach the Meraki cloud
if you cannot manage it from the cloud, and the local-status page is switched off
then you have no way to modify the configuration locally
-> your options are
- to factory reset the device to enable the local status page again
- or somehow restore the connectivity to the Meraki cloud (by guessing the active IP-address and modify firewall rules)
from here you can re-enable the local status page or manage from the cloud

You only need to reset it if it loses access to the Cloud controller as you can't make any changes for obvious reasons, note that the Local page is to change IP settings pretty much....so after getting IPs sorted i disabled it.

I think I understand now. So I should be in the clear to disable it then since this Local Status page and its associated Meraki Device have been configured and in an operational state for a VERY long time. Therefore, it has its IP sorted out and it sounds like I should be in the clear to disable.

This might be a little late but for anyone reading this question in the future its worth capturing the management and WAN configuration of your Meraki devices and storing that info so that if there is an issue with an upstream device worst case you'll have all you need to configure a temporary internet connectivity to re-establish cloud management and alter the configuration as needed (including reactivating the local status page)

No worries! Better late than never. I completely agree with this as well, if anyone else reads this later, this is confirmation stating that as long as you keep your information stored somewhere, you could use that to restore your access to the LSP.
