DNS resolution for the network equipments ?

Hi Team , 

 

is it best practice to setup DNS resolution for the network equipments ? 

 

Can you please explain if we really need DNS resolution for Network equipments and what are the use cases ?

Depends on the requirement,  YES/ NO, take for example nowadays every device looking to connect a smart License server that required DNS for resolution (example).

 

IP vs DNS is my point of view.

 

If you configure the IP, it's hard to change if the device changed IP or service change the IP

if you have DNS entry for any - it does not matter what IP the service uses, you do not have any dependency,

 

This is just an example, like you may have some use cases to use DNS vs IP.

 - Also if you start using  network management tools or apps , you will usually need dns-naming for the network components.
