Dynamic Assignment of VLAN's

What's the best product and method to implement Dynamic Assignment of VLAN's. We have several sites, with Switches from 2900XL up to 3550, and on some exceptional sites 6500 Switch running IOS always.

To avoid the management required for the VLAN Configuration, we would like to work with Dynamic Assignment of VLAN's, but what is the best method? Seems to work with VMPS we need to have at least one 6500 or 4000 per site, which is not the case.

I'm interested to know how is it done on other companies.
