I would like to know what messages will be generated by the commands:
CATOS: set snmp trap enable envtemp
IOS: snmp-server enable traps envmon temperature
Will this generate a syslog message? If yes, what is that message?
Will this generate an SNMP trap? If yes, then what trap?
The reason I am asking is that I have an application that "searches" for these messages and alerts us via email.

Hi Marlony,
This is for generating trap only.
set snmp trap enable command Enables SNMP traps.
with envtemp option this command enables the environmental monitoring temperature traps

Thanks for your reply. If this generates an SNMP trap. What OID will I use to simulate this trap?
Is this the correct OID? 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.3.0.3

OK assuming that the MIB is loaded and the switch is generating that trap what should I see in my trap receiver? Will the trap contain the varbind string "SNMP-5-ENVMONTEMPTRAP"?
Also, if I cannot get this to work, what else can I do to monitor the temperature of the switches aside from creating a tool that queries the specific OID of the switch that contains the temperature reading? If the switch encounters an abnormal temperature, will it also generate a syslog message long before the Shutdown Notification message? If yes, what is that specific syslog message?
