Dear Experts,
I've a question regarding setting up the threshold value for an access switch and also dist switch interfaces. We have Prime and another NMS where in we have to set up threshold value for error and discard alarms. As of now, by default, it is set up as 1% and this generates a huge number of alarms in the system. We want to set up with a more optimum value but could not decide what it could be. If we set it up as 5% roughly then we will be able to reduce the utilization alarms but I am looking for the best practice and cisco recommendations to set up erroe and discard rate alarms. Is there any formlae to calculate the threshold for each interface depends on uplink and total number of ports. Please recommend.

HI there,
Typically a interface utilisation threshold value would be set to 80%.
Cheers,
Seb.

See my answer to your other question:
...interface discards is not something that you want to choose to ignore unless you have already applied reasonable best effort to mitigate them.
cheers,
Seb.
