Fiber optic media converter up and down periodically

The internet connected to a client has this following problems, it is connected both sides by media converter 

• the internet connection is up during morning hours and without any reason its down by afternoon hours
• the one end is connect to switch via media converter and vice versa

what can be the reason for this period-icily up and down of the internet connectivity

Start troubleshooting by replace M/C on the near end.

In my practise faulty media converters were causing very strange and absurd problems.
