flow control is a feature of TCP. my question is this:
in a network, what is the purpose of flow control? is it to regulate the size of each datagram segment? or is it used to provide a mechanism for the receiver to control the transmission speed?
Flow control is used to ensure that the transmitter does not transmit so fast that the receiver (or intermediary nodes) are not overrun ... So the feedback mechanism ensures that the receiver slows down appropriately..
