how to sync RTC with ntp after reboot - Cisco 3925

dahua.huang

Level 1

Hi,

We bought a used 3925 with SPE200 router from Ebay for lab training.  no smartnet, no support.

(our Data Center has full smartnet and support)

on board RTC battery run out and our team (IT geeks) replaced it.

My question is how to sync RTC clock with NTP or set it up. because it keep say

*Feb 6 06:30:22.048: %MAINBOARD-3-RTC_BATTERY_FAILURE: Real Time Clock (RTC) oscillator problem detected

and show clock was  Wed Feb 6 2036

after fully reboot, router will sync with NTP with correct time, but RTC wont snyc.

Please and any hidden/special cmd for sync RTC?

Thank ahead.

Battery gone bad, required replacement, since you brought from ebay, it may not have cisco support, so open the Kit, and get the same model of batter and replace.

configure Router local tme zone

configure NTP follow below document :

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4000/8-2glx/configuration/guide/ntp.html

Not sure if the device detected new battery or replaced with right one, i leave on for some time so the batter charges and recover.

I do see time corrected after boot.

Looks like your license got expired,(other issue not part of the issue you posted here)

the time corrected due to synced with NTP.

Thanks again
