We have LMS3.2 RME4.3.1 on solaris server

Can LMS see/save if a HW added/removed to the box. and is it debends on syslog or SNMP to detect changes?

What is the different between Reports-Report Generato-Inventory-"24 hoursinventory change report" and Reports-Report Generato-change audit-"standard report" ?

Yes, RME can track such hardware changes.  It uses syslog messages and periodic polling to do so.

The Inventory change report is a report which show only inventory changes found by either syslog messages or periodic polling.  The change audit report shows all device changes (e.g. inventory, config, etc.) for each application in RME as well as those changes detected outside of RME.

"The change audit report shows all device changes (e.g. inventory,  config, etc.) for each application in RME as well as those changes  detected outside of RME." can you explain what are changes that can be detected outside RME. and how schedule change inventory report to provide changes older than 24 hours.

For example, someone can telnet to a device, and change the config.  If that happens, and the device sends a syslog message to RME, then RME will fetch the new config, process the changes, and tie them to the user who made the change.

If you want to run a report for a time ranger larger than 24 hours, just change the range in the report config page.  By default, it reports over a 24-hour period, but you can change this using the radio buttons in the Date Range area of the report config.

let me rephrase the question again, What is the differnce between "Change Audit - Category : Inevntory_change" and "Invrntory- 24 hours inventory change report"

also if a new module is added or a memory is upgraded for exmaple to a box where should we expect the changes to show up.

also as to  "Invrntory- 24 hours inventory change report", how can we configure this report or get a simillar report for more than just 24 hours as there is no time range to change.

There is no difference.  Change Audit records that a change occurred, and the inventory change report lists the change details.  You can also see the details from the Change Audit report.

The RME Detailed Device Report will have all the current inventory data for a given device.  However, the specific change details will be seen in the inventory change and change audit reports.

The 24 hour inventory change report can only be run over a 24-hour period.  The Change Audit report can be run over a longer period.
