Hi,
I experianse some issues with ISSU Update per Prime Infrastructure 3.6, may be you have some idea what the problem is?
I'm going to upgrade cat. 4500X from .SPA.03.08.06.E.152-4.E6 to 03.08.08.E.152-4.E8. First I distributed the new Version via PI 3.6 to the VSS "insert boot command" and "ISSU". In the second step I activated the image with ISSU option and logged all commands, issued by prime
What prime does:
copy bootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.bin bootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.bin slavebootflash: terminal length 0 dir slavebootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.bin dir bootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.bin bootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.bin show file systems delete bootflash: archive tar /xtract cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.tar bootflash: dir /all bootflash: copy ftp://user:password@ip/cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.tar bootflash: dir bootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.tar show ip http server status dir slavebootflash: dir bootflash: show file systems dir /all bootflash: dir bootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.bin terminal width 0 terminal length 0 enable
Thats it. both prime jobs are listed as successfull, for the second jop PI didn't issued a single command. And there isn't a single command about ISSU.
4500x VSS has no problems with ISSU (I performed ISSU upgrade manually, here the result)
show issu state detail Slot = 1 RP State = Active ISSU State = Init Operating Mode = Stateful Switchover Current Image = bootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.bin Pre-ISSU (Original) Image = N/A Post-ISSU (Targeted) Image = N/A Slot = 11 RP State = Standby ISSU State = Init Operating Mode = Stateful Switchover Current Image = bootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.08.08.E.152-4.E8.bin Pre-ISSU (Original) Image = N/A Post-ISSU (Targeted) Image = N/A
Do somebody has an idea, what the problem is?
thanks
p.s. Prime is also not able to upgrade VSS without ISSU - in that case PI just reloads the standby switch and closes the job as successfull.

So you suppose, it isn’t a good idea to use Cisco network management tool to manage Cisco network components. This is sad
actually i feel the same way, but my expectation is, that that expensive, almost proprietary, network management tool should be able to fulfill the basic software management task.
