LMS 2.5 - User Tracking problem

Hi all,

I have some switches:

- Model: WS-C3750X-48P-L

- IOS Version 12.2 (55) SE3

there is a problem with User Tracking feature on the CiscoWorks (LMS 2.5)

Specifically while doing a search of all hosts that are attached on these switches, I don't receive any results.  I noted that removing and re-inserting the switches solves the problem however, randomically after sometime it occurs again.

Could you let me know how we can permanently solve this issue?

Thanks

I don't believe the 3750X is supported by LMS 2.5. That switch was introduced long after LMS 2.5 was no longer sold (2007, development/updates ended in 2008 per the EoS/EoL notice)

I can't find the document for LMS 2.5 support details at the moment but even the LMS 3.0 Supported Devices Table doesn't list the 3750X.

Anyone who Heards LMS 2.5 would react on suggesting upgrading it, as it is unsupported since long back.

Even if you dont have a feasibility to move to 3.x or 4.x series, you should upgrade to LMS 2.6 which is the most stable release in 2.x.

In old LMS 2.x days all the modules were with separate teams hence the supported devices were also module wise, like RME, CM, DFM etc.

RME 4.0.5 is with LMS 2.6 which even does not support 3750X. Check the document here and try seaching using sysObjectID.

I have various 3750 switches but only have this problem on a couple of them. I found this documentation at the following link which mentions the devices supported by LMS 2.5.1 having RME 4.0.3.

Any ideas?

As has been eluded to previously, your best bet is to upgrade to LMS 2.6.x and latest version of Campus Manager 4.0.x. Not sure why you are mentioning RME when User Tracking is a campus manager function. There have been numerous of reasons why user tracking would stop looking up previously known hosts.

Firewall, DB corruption, user tracking stuck in a running state, data collection not ran for a while (Major and Minor), bug in UT or campus manager.  If you really dont want to upgrade, you need to look at the UT.log under CSCOpx/log directory for any errors.

Ideally the best solution like Vinod stated, upgrade to the latest of LMS 2.6.x.x and patch up all the modules to current version.
