Hi,

We are planning to upgrade CORP Domain from Windows 2003 Active Directory Schema to Windows 2008 R2 Active Directory Schema.

I wanted to know if the following applications which are installed on windows (domain member servers) are compatible with windows 2008 server R2 schema?

  • CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution 2.6
  • Cisco Secure Access Control System 4.2
  • Cisco Fabric Manager 1.5

Any help is much appreciated!

- CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution 2.6 - Not supported and this software is EOS-EOL.

- Cisco Secure Access Control System 4.2 - Not supported either:

- Cisco Fabric Manager 1.5 - Was not able to find anything for version 1.5 and not really familiar with this product.  However, according to the below not even version 4.2(7d) supports 2008:

Hi Joel,

Thanks for your answer!

Just the domain controllers will be upgraded from Window2003 to Windows2008, none of the servers/OS where the applications are installed will be upgraded.

So the question is whether these applications are compatible with Active Directory 2008 rather than if they can be installed in Window 2008.

These are applications that we currently have (I know some of them are EOS)!

Apologies for misreading.  For LMS there shouldn't be any problems moving to 2008 domain controllers.  But ACS will have issues per:

CSCtg37183    ACS 4.x doesn't support 2008 R2 Server for AD

There are no plans to add support for this version.  I am not aware of impacts in Fabric Manager to comment more.

Hi Joel,

Thanks again!

Do you have the source where it is stated that LMS 2.6 would have any problem working with Windows 2008 R2 controllers?

I do not believe this is documented anywhere officially.  I gathered this from TAC internal communications.
