When trying to start CiscoWorks Daemon Manager i get the following message:

"The CiscoWorks Daemon Manager service on local computer started and the stoped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

I have tring starting the service from DOS also and get:

E:\Program Files\CSCOpx\setup\support>net start crmdmgtd
The CiscoWorks Daemon Manager service is starting.
The CiscoWorks Daemon Manager service could not be started.

The service did not report an error.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3534.

resting the casuser pasword also did not help.

Anyone know of a solution?

This is my main suspicious as well. The patch is modified version of dmgtd.exe is not posted in cisco.com, thus you need to open a TAC

case to get it.

Check the statuses of the Services on the server. Only the following CiscoWorks's related services should be Automatic (all other should be manuall):

1. CiscoWorks Daemon Manager

2. CWCS rsh/rcp service

3. CWCS syslog service

4. CWCS tftp service

The services you mention are currently set to Automatic, and the rest to manual. We still get the same problem.

What is the size of dmgtd.exe under $NMSRoot\bin directory? Also, please

Also, in CLI on the server under $NMSRoot\log please run the command "
find "dmgtd" syslog.log > temp.log" and post the temp.log file.

Hi Svetlana

Sorry for coming back to you so late.

The size of the dmgtd.exe file is 285KB.

I have also attached the temp log.

Thanx

Neil

You should increase the swap space ;-) Then reboot the server and this should fix the issue.

Hi

That was the initial problem, we did increase the swap file space and still get an error. See the errors on the 22nd..

I have done some reading and see there is mention of the following patch in anther call. The patch is CSCtd18854, do you know where I can download it?

The OS we are trying on is Windows 2008 Enterprise. We did not experience any problems like this on 2003.

This is my main suspicious as well. The patch is modified version of dmgtd.exe is not posted in cisco.com, thus you need to open a TAC

case to get it.

Logged a TAC and the patch did resolve the problem. Thank You

Mr Claassen.

Can you Share the patch somewhere on the internet ?
