Modify startup-config using text editor and tftp

Hi all,

my question is : how to change the configuration

file using a text program (how to save it ?),

and then copying this file with a tftp server.

I tried using a word text editor (word pad, notepad)

but as I save it, it become a text file and the

router doesnn't recognize it as config file,

so the copy tftp startup doesn't succeed.

Thanks in advance.

Marco.

Hi Marco,

When you do a "Save As" from within notepad, put the filename in speech marks (e.g. "running-config") and change the "Save as type" to "All Files"

Thanks Paddy,

I did it using the gedit/linux editor and

it worked at the first try.

The problem still remain using MS editors.

Notepad isn't able to format the file in a readable

way (it shows the char, but doesn't go to the new line), while Word and Wordpad format the file

in the right way but as i want to save it, they

don't let me save as type "all files" transforming it to a text file.

Anyway, thanks to you and linux I solved the problem.

Best regards,

Marco.
