Monitoring port errors

We all know what happens when port speed and duplex are mismatched. Log file entries indicate that the interface is experiencing errors. My questions is, does this message translate to a snmp trap? If so, what MIB is used and can HPOV use the information in an event.

havent used this with trap, but YES it can be used with syslog. You can set warning on syslog settings and get these errors on the syslog server.

For syslog entries that have no corrsponding snmp trap, you will have to enable syslog traps.

This sends error message notifications (Cisco Syslog MIB). But you must specify the level of messages to be sent with the logging level command.

This is useful when you have an NMS system that you've only configured to work with snmp traps. The draw back is with some NMS you could be getting notified twice; once by the syslog process, then again by the snmp.
