Network Management in ISP environment.

Hi.

My goal is to implement a network monitoring and management in ISP environment. What should I do first?

What should I monitor?

What exact SNMP counters are bad or good?

How other ISPs monitor theirs networks?

What software should I use?

What are the best practices?

Our products are: Internet access, VPNs and VoIP. Our network comprises multivendor equipment. At the moment we use MRTG ony.

You are having VOIP and VPN devices so you can implement QOS on your network it may be class based or traffic based etc. You can use SDM for more easier configuration.
