OID's keep changing

We have 2 IPsec tunnels created on Cisco 1111 8p router & we want to monitor the tunnels through our monitoring.

We have a predefined template available in our monitoring tool to monitor this service, but its not accurate. Hence did SNMP walk & found the OID of the service & configured it in monitoring , but we observed that OID keep changing.

Ex: Yesterday I did a snmp walk & found that the OID of VPN tunnel is OID=.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.171.1.2.3.1.7.58, Type=OctetString, Value=040.085.218.065 & to today again I did a snmp walk & it gave me a different OID.

Can someone suggest how can I efficiently monitor the VPN tunnels using OID ?

Hello,

I am not sure if this suggestion helps but let's try: I suspect that the interface OIDs are changing everytime the tunnels are brought down and back up, or when they are internally recreated in IOS-XE. Can you try configuring snmp ifmib ifindex persist in your global configuration and see if that improves anything?

Best regards,
Peter
