Hello,

A few days ago a secondary power supply failed on a Cisco IOS Software, Catalyst 4500 L3 Switch Software (cat4500-ENTSERVICESK9-M) running  Version 12.2(44)SG1.

We did see the syslog notification.

Jan 14 20:40:27.359: %C4K_IOSMODPORTMAN-4-POWERSUPPLYBAD: Power supply 2 has failed or been turned off

SNMP traps envmon are enabled.

snmp-server enable traps envmon fan shutdown supply temperature status

I dont understand why there was no SNMP trap sent ?

Support for the ciscoEnvMonSuppStatusChangeNotif trap was added to 12.2(44)SG, so it should be sent.  It is controlled by the "envmon status" keyword (which it looks like you also have).  Please post your entire SNMP configuration.

The device is monitored by SNMP polling etc using SNMP is working.

But appearantly SNMP traps triggered by the device itself are blocked by somekind of FW or ACL i didnt think about this because the device was polled using SNMP so i figured couldnt be a FW or ACL issue.

Thank you for youre effort !
