Set RV160w as master when adding access points 145ac?

I have a Cisco rv160W. It has two SSIDs configured, one for staff and one for guests. I have run Cat6 to another area of the building and added a 145ac access point.

But. Upon initial configuration it keeps asking me to make it the master AP and define a new SSID. Is there no way to force it to pick up the settings from the rv160W and essentially cluster?

I have more Cat6 on the next floor awaiting a second wireless access point as well.

Thanks for the (basic) help.

RV160W and CBW145AC are two different hardware platforms and cannot be put in a cluster i.e. exchange configuration between one another. There are couple of options we can look at:

  • Use Cisco Business Dashboard to Manage the Wireless network. Cisco Business Dashboard identifies all wireless devices it has support for and provides a single interface for propagating configuration to all applicable devices.
  • Configure the first CBW145AC manually (subsequent 145AC's can pull the configuration from the Master) with the same SSID as that on RV160W (with same credentials)

If you need assistance with these configurations, please feel free to reach out to our support team and one of our Engineers will be happy to assist.

Thanks so much @Nagaraja Thanthry i really appreciate your response. I do have questions about securely separating guest WiFi from the “main network” and would love to get some support to make sure I do it right.

you mentioned asking the support team. How do I go about that - and is it free?!
