Hi, I have lots of customers using SNMPv3 on their Cisco devices. I do have backup copies of their startup/running config files and am required to restored their devices if there are any hardware failures.
I do understand that configured snmpv3 users information are not shown in the configs, say if I put in a copy of the backup config on a new device to be restored on my client network, will the snmp v3 users info be intact in the new devices ? or I do have to manually add them to the config file again ?
Thanks,
Desmond

They will not be stored in any configuration backup.
Even the command to show the users only confirms their existence without even showing you the hashed credentials:
R1#show snmp user User name: cscuser Engine ID: 800000090300500000070000 storage-type: nonvolatile active Authentication Protocol: MD5 Privacy Protocol: AES256 Group-name: v3users R1#show run | i snmp mmi snmp-timeout 180 snmp-server chassis-id R1#
You would have to do some sort of manual work around as suggested by @IVAN PEPELNJAK in his blog article here:

Thanks, tested further. Most of hidden details could be retrieved from the "show snmp user" command except for the passwords.
