switch error log

in Aug.15, we have switch problem, now it is near end of August, I use putty log on to switch, how to pull error log for previous period?

Are the logs still there for august the 15th when you do a show logging ?

if not are you sending them externally to a syslog somewhere as if they have overwritten in logfile there's no where that you can retrieve them unless sending them somewhere externally or to flash or archive
