Switch WS-C3850-12XS not supported in cisco network assistant

Hello

We have a problem with our new Switch WS-C3850-12XS . We try to put it into the cisco network assistant but we only get the message

"Unsupported Device".

Thats correct there not even supported in latest cna either 6.2 , 3850s lowest support is 24port

Hi Mark,

Should WS-C3850-48 p switchs be supported in network assistant?  I have some that run 3.6 that I can connect to and some on 3.62 that aren't.  I've tryed 3.7.02 on one and that dosen't work either?  

Any ideas?

The 48 ports should be supported there in the doc as useable on CNA , PE and PS versions

It may be an issue with the particular software version , the ones that works and the ones that don't are they running the same code , IOS-XE can be a bit buggy it may have an issue with certain code

I seem to have a knack of picking the buggy versions.  After a bit more testing it seems 3.6.2 which is what I upgraded a mass of switchs to a while back do not like connecting to network assistant.  I didn't have time to investigate then.  So upgrading one to 3.7.2 a couple days back didn't work either so was losing hope.  I then rolled one back to 3.6.3 and this version seems to allow switchs to connect back and be managed via CNA so I think we should be good.  Planning to upgrade a couple of stacks this weekend so will update if they work also.

The IOS-XE code is notorious for having some release that are just not ready for production use.

The rule of thumb we use is to use the "Gold Star" version ("Cisco Suggested release based on software quality, stability and longevity.") unless the TAC specifically directs an alternate release based on a needed feature or bug that we are hitting.

Right now that release is 3.6.3 - strange coincidence or something else? :)

Make sure you have the "ip http server" (or "ip http secure-server") enabled and that you can authenticate to it outside of CNA.

I just fired up my CNA at made a new community pointing at a couple of WS-C3850-48Ps (running 3.3.5, 3.6.1 and 3.6.3). They all came up OK.

CNA does have an issue recognizing the 3850 network modules; but other than that they look OK. The ones I added include both standalone units and stacks.

Just for Ref if it helps anyone or plan to investigate the problem.  All of my switchs have ip http server and ip http secure-server in the config.  They were all part managed via cna before being upgraded to 3.6.2/3.7.2 beforehand fine.
