telnet access problems - hanging or not connecting...

Hi,

the telnet acces to one of my RAS routers has started to "play up". It all started after a recent power spike sent the router in to rommon mode. I recovered the router from this but now when i try to telnet to the router it does not respond ( it is reachable via ping ). It looks as if it is connected to the router as it does not fail the connection and when i hit enter it scrolls down the screen but i see no characters. I have confirmed the configs have not been changed.

I did manage to get it working once by removing all commands on line vty0 4, rebooting the router, and reapplying the commands. This allowed me telnet access, but only once. Any subsequent attempts to connect had the same blank hanging screen as above.

Any ideas ?

cheers

Richard

Have you checked that your telnet passwords?

It could be simpler to just erase your startup-config, reload and apply your (backup) configuration afresh. This would eliminate the configuration as the problem.

Josef.
